Ricks Furniture Company was founded
in 1947 by Philip A and Leota Ricks in downtown Del Rio, Texas.
While serving in the Army Air Corp during World War II, he became
a pilot and was stationed at what is now Laughlin Air Force Base
in Del Rio. There he met and married Leota Petty.
After the war, they returned to
Del Rio and in 1947 Ricks Furniture Company was started. In 1968
Ricks constructed a new building on Ave F and Tenth Street to
better serve our customers with an expanded selection of brand
names such as Thomasville, La-Z-Boy, Broyhill, Sealy Posturepedic,
Kincaid, Lexington, Lane and many more.
In 1980 Ricks expanded to Kerrville,
Texas. Ricks was very excited to be in the Hill Country and Phyllis
Ricks moved to Kerrville to manage this location.
Ricks has just recently completed
remodeling and expanding both locations to better serve our customers.
The Del Rio location expanded to approximately 30,000 square feet
in 1997 and had interior designer, Hubbard King, complete the
interior. Mr King had previously designed the Kerrville location.
In 1997 Kerrville added the Hill
Country's only La-Z-Boy Gallery featuring the complete line of
quality home furnishings to compliment the existing Solid Wood
Gallery by Kincaid (a La-Z-Boy Company). In 1999 a "Rooms For
You" Gallery was added.
Lonnie Ricks in Del Rio along with
Leota Ricks, Phyllis Ricks and son John Philip Skrumeda in Kerrville
feel that our commitment to value is just as important today as
it was in 1947. For over 50 years our commitment to offer our
customers the best selection at guaranteed lowest prices has not
changed.
